More about the opportunity

The No.2 Race Mechanic is a key member of the Race Team, responsible for the assembly, preparation, maintenance, and continuous development of our Formula 1 cars. Working within a high-performance environment, you will collaborate closely with No.1 Mechanics, Engineers, and Operations personnel to ensure all vehicles and associated assemblies are built, maintained, and delivered to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Primarily factory-based, this role may also include opportunities to support selected Formula 1 race and test events through a structured trackside rotation programme, contributing directly to vehicle performance and operational excellence.

  • Assemble, service, maintain, and rebuild Formula 1 cars, sub-assemblies, and components in accordance with engineering specifications, build procedures, and quality standards
  • Deliver all build, maintenance, and preparation activities to agreed timelines while maintaining exceptional standards of workmanship, accuracy, and reliability
  • Complete build documentation, inspection reports, component lifing records, and checklists to ensure full traceability and compliance
  • Conduct planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs, and root cause investigations, implementing corrective actions to maximise vehicle performance and reliability
  • Identify, escalate, and support the resolution of technical, quality, and build-related issues
  • Prepare and maintain race and test equipment, tooling, spares, and workshop assets to the highest operational standards
  • Support simulator, rig, development, and test programmes as required
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to ensure vehicle readiness and successful programme delivery
  • Attend selected Formula 1 events, supporting car preparation, servicing, repairs, setup changes, pit stop practice, and trackside operations as required
  • Build effective working relationships across Mechanical, Engineering, Operations, and wider team functions, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through knowledge sharing, problem solving, and the adoption of best practices
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, ensuring all tools, equipment, and components are properly controlled and maintained
  • Operate in accordance with all company procedures, quality standards, health and safety requirements, and regulatory obligations

What do we need from you?

  • Proven experience as a No.2 Mechanic, Build Technician, or Sub-Assembly Technician (Formula 1, Formula 2, FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), IMSA, IndyCar, Formula E) with hands-on involvement in the assembly, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of high-performance race cars
  • Strong experience in the assembly, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of high-performance race cars
  • Sound understanding of mechanical systems, engineering drawings, build procedures, and quality standards
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
    • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering work to the highest standard
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and functions
    • Self-motivated and accountable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
    • Flexible and willing to travel domestically and internationally in support of race and test activities
    • Previous trackside experience supporting race weekends, test events, and pit stop operations
