More about the opportunity

As a Systems Simulation Development Engineer, you will develop and refine numerical methods for use in advanced dynamics simulation tools. You will work across mechanical and hydraulic domains, building system models from first principles and implementing multibody dynamics algorithms from the ground up.

We are looking for candidates with solid experience in first-principles modeling and multibody dynamics, combined with strong numerical and software engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop numerical methods and algorithms for system and multibody dynamics simulations
  • Build physics-based models for mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Implement efficient and maintainable simulation software
  • Collaborate with domain experts to translate physical requirements into simulation features
  • Support model validation, system identification, and toolchain optimization

What do we need from you?

What do we need from you?

  • Strong expertise in numerical methods for ODE/PDE solving and automatic differentiation
  • Experience with symbolic modeling and code-generation toolchains, ideally for multibody systems
  • Background in state estimation and system identification, including signal processing and frequency-domain methods
  • Experience developing 1D hydraulic system models (e.g., pressure lines, valves, accumulators, pumps, actuators) from first principles
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, including compressible/incompressible flow, line dynamics, wave propagation, cavitation, and fluid-structure interactions
  • Knowledge of hydraulic circuit behavior, including flow-pressure coupling, dynamic compliance, damping, leakage, and thermal effects
  • Ability to derive and implement nonlinear constitutive laws for hydraulic components (e.g., valve flow equations, pump mapping, orifice equations, spool dynamics)
  • Hands-on experience implementing numerical solvers for hydraulic networks, such as implicit/explicit schemes for stiff fluid systems and coupled system solvers for fluid/structure interactions

Desirable Skills

  • Object-oriented programming experience, preferably in modern C++
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python for numerical computing, optimal control problems, and MPC
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
  • Knowledge of Docker image creation and management
  • Ability to design and maintain regression routines for software validation
  • Hands-on experience with build systems, DevOps practices, and scalable software delivery workflows
