More about the opportunity

We have an opportunity for an Senior Aero Mechanical Design Engineer to join Cadillac Formula 1 Team at Silverstone. In this role you will be work within a group of skilled design engineers in helping develop the team’s 60% wind tunnel model and testing facility, designing and developing mechanical and electromechanical systems for the model. Responsible for complete design projects in all aspects of the design of the mechanical systems used on the wind tunnel model, test facility and aero instrumentation.

  • Deliver high quality designed mechanical parts for the wind tunnel model
  • Analyse and optimise designs to improve the performance and reliability of engineering systems.
  • Liaise with the aero department stakeholders to complete mechanical design solutions that achieve the project scope
  • Contribute new ideas in design methodology including process and procedures.
  • Investigate and research new technologies and materials to be used in the development of mechanical systems
  • Contribute to standard design practices, ensuring these are adhered to

What do we need from you?

  • A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar 
  • Experience of mechanical design using 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of complex mechanical engineering
  • Ability to apply structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA)
  • Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GD&T and its application
