We have an opportunity for a Graduate Model Design Engineer here at Cadillac Formula 1®. In this role you will work within a group of skilled design engineers, delivering high quality designed 60% model parts for Wind Tunnel testing which will support the aerodynamic performance development of the race car. - Support the design and delivery of high-quality Wind Tunnel model components for aerodynamic testing
- Assist with design activities, including component creation, design checking, problem-solving and maintaining accurate project documentation
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of model parts and assemblies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Wind Tunnel testing programme
- Work collaboratively with Senior Model Design Engineers, Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to develop components that meet technical and performance requirements
- Follow established design standards, processes and best practices set by the Aero Design team, while developing technical knowledge and capability
- Participate in team activities and provide support across a range of design projects, with occasional travel as required
REQUIREMENTS
What do we need from you?
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering/Design/Motorsport) or similar
- Completed your degree within the past 12 months, or you are scheduled to complete it within the next 12 months
- Some experience with 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA)
- Knowledge and understanding of part quality, model layout and robustness
- Possess a some understanding of parametric modelling techniques
- An understanding of structural engineering techniques for part validation (FEA)
- Some knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques including composite manufacture and advanced digital manufacture
- Some knowledge and understanding of GD&T and its application
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
